endurance for shorter races like a 10 miler or half-marathon.

Note: For those doing the Shamrock, be sure to sign up before Jan 31, when the rates go up. Road trips and long runs are subject to change. Marathon Training LinksHal Higdon's schedules are very popular, and are easy on the beginner. Cool Running has several marathon training schedules from beginner to advanced. The Boston Athletic Association has a training program with schedules and tips here. The New York Road Runners offer 6 different schedules based on ability. Click here to check them out.
